I hear you! The joy of learning is being squashed by so many mandates. I see the vision like you do and the outcome but it's painful to see the direction education is taking. I always ask myself, "Is this BEST practices?" Every once in a while i see glimmer of hope and I value those inspirations. I see you as one of them. I appreciate you steadfastness of what you believe to be organic (as Sir Ken would say). PS---Your videos make me smile.
So fun to read your blog. I'm guessing the carrot-and-stick reward method is not your M.O. in the classroom and instead you are able to capitalize on Pink's third drive – intrinsic motivation – the joy of the task itself. Pretty cool.
